Assessment of A.E. Yeatman for the thesis The Glamour and the Grot: Towards an Ethnography of the Gay Bars of Adelaid (M.A. Qual., 1978).
One of the things I did pick up out of all this was the sociological technique of "Participant Observation", a technique which first came to prominence in works such as Street Corner Society.
I was to use this technique, with varying effect, in a number of works in the decades to come.
