My father employed many interesting characters, including doormen and bouncers who were great boxers or nefarious types who became underworld figures, such as ''Chopper'' Read, who became notorious as a standover man. Kings Cross was also the home of several illegal baccarat games, after-hours bars and brothels, where police actively took a percentage of the action from many individual operators.
My father had an ingenious solution to the problem of the prohibition of the sale of alcohol after 6pm: have the Roosevelt patrons place their order before the deadline and serve them their drinks later. As the local police turned a blind eye, the result was the creation of the most corrupt state in Australia.
It was at this time that my father began exploring two other appealing vices he could add to booze in the Cross: sex and gambling. Ultimately, the three together would become the linchpins of his growing empire. On his deathbed, he told me he had a financial interest in two illegal baccarat games in the Roosevelt days, and had begun to coordinate prostitution in several rented apartments, for which he took a cut.
My father was foremost a businessman and he gained a reputation of trust and discretion among the nation's corrupt police, politicians and judges through his operation of the Roosevelt, which was where they were entertained. His reputation for silence was one of his main assets and he also rarely asked for favours it was understood that the authorities would not disturb his operations. They recognised in my father someone who could be a staunch, trustworthy ally in their illegal vice activities, and who would help them make money on the side.
He not only appealed to the greed of the many officials he befriended, but also served their appetite for more earthly pleasures, providing them with sex orgies.
Away from their wives, they enjoyed the unbelievable entertainment and substantial cash rewards of dealing with my father, and in turn, they protected him.
My father was silent to outsiders and never said what was on his mind. But he was a great listener and could remember whatever was said with a photographic memory. He could repeat it word for word, recalling dates and times with complete accuracy. I guess this helped with his cash dealings.
By my second birthday, in 1951 which I celebrated at the Roosevelt surrounded by 30 kids, with a huge cake with sparklers my father's net had spread. He now controlled five pubs, operating behind family members, and the club.
He was charged with running several illegal games of baccarat, a favourite with the elite of Sydney, but to no avail. All charges were dismissed. He was way too clever to be caught.
The truth behind the headlines declaring my dad's underworld status is of a quiet man who made money from the decadence of the establishment. He never aimed to be the No1 crime boss. Later, his brilliant abilities and the authorities' growing desire for one ''godfather'' put him in a position of enormous power.
My father insisted on absolute control in the family Mum never got a driver's licence or a car until I was in my teens because he felt he would lose control over her in some way.
He also didn't think it was appropriate for a woman to drive. In the early days, she had to rely on buses, or being picked up by one of my father's employees and taken wherever she needed to go, including the club. When he eventually weakened and she got her licence, he bought her a second-hand car, which he bargained for it was forbidden to buy a new one, so my kids, his employees and I would always drive one of his old cars...
A huge blow for my father came in 1954, with the royal commission into liquor trading, conducted by Justice Victor Maxwell Sr [who died in 1975]. This was the beginning of a lifelong battle with hypocritical elements within the law and politicians who wanted to bring him down for their personal gain. The truth is that my father was a visionary and the founder of the modern entertainment industry in Australia, providing fabulous clubs, pubs, gambling and sex to the public all of which is legal today.
The commission discovered that he was using family members as fronts for ownership in the pubs, a practice that was illegal. An individual could own only one pub. They also discovered how he was providing liquor from these pubs to the Roosevelt, a practice that was also illegal. He was found guilty and required to sell his pubs, give up his liquor licence and close the Roosevelt. Other than this crippling of his businesses, no charges were brought against my father or any of his family.
I was just seven when in 1955 I left Sydney with my parents on an around-the-world cruise on the SS Orcades. Little did I know that I was going to be left in Switzerland. Towards the end of the trip, my parents took me to Lausanne and introduced me to Mimi and Jacques, relations of my mother's first housekeeper, Roxanne. After several days, for reasons I've never learned, my parents told me I was to stay for a while with Mimi and Jacques, who spoke almost no English.
Back in Australia, the vice squad had come looking for Dad when investigating an incident where he, Wayne Martin (a Roosevelt employee), Hilton Kincaid, Max Murrell (his silent partner) and my Uncle Henry had gone to Murrell's home in Palm Beach with four girls, of course. One of them, Jean, told the police about a sex party, but later called my father to apologise, saying she had been forced to do so by the police.
The vice squad found a whip with furry yellow thongs and a camera in the Kings Cross apartment that he kept throughout his marriage. The papers shouted: ''Depraved conduct, whip used on nude girls.'' My father said the offending item was only a feather duster. Before the matter went to court, Jean had a convenient memory loss and the case collapsed, resulting in no convictions.
It was 18 months before I returned to my parents. Happily, I loved Switzerland. Mimi and Jacques loved me and it was the most normal time in my childhood. I still have the fondest memories of my time there, including when I received a scooter for my birthday the best present I ever had. My father never visited me in Switzerland and my mother only came twice. When my father heard that I called Jacques ''Dad'', my mother was sent to pick me up.
Sadly, nothing had changed at home my father still only came home three nights a week and my mother had a growing sadness about her.
After the sex scandal and the allegations of depraved behaviour, my father was dubbed ''Mr Sin'' by newspapers and the name stuck for more than five decades, until his death [aged 86, on September 15, 2006]. To some extent, he enjoyed the notoriety, although after my mother's death [in 1999] he would famously and successfully sue those who publicly referred to him by this title, as he tried to clean up his image.
Alan Saffron, Gentle Satan.
We were cornered. There were deadbeats and skulls on the side of the road. Prickly life forms stretched out from either side of the highway, none of them human, none of them sentient. They were threatened by things entirely unthinking. They themselves were classified as half-dead. The road was bewildering, he did not know where it went. But what was most disturbing was the dangers that lay on either side, the chaotic fields, the garbage city's dumps, the strange rectangular shapes that poked up out of the mud, the air of decay that coated everything. The sky was dark, but not quite night, sulphurous, clouds boiling, the sky itself low to the ground, threatening.
He had been awakened by his own instincts, suddenly frightened and he knew not why. Things would change. He should be able to find sanctuary. But he wasn't sure where the road led. He wasn't sure why so many afflictions had plagued him. He had tried to think positively, to change this reality. But it hadn't worked. He thought for a moment he saw a cat in the mounds of garbage on either side of the unpaved road, hoping to spot some other living thing beyond the black, threatening birds that wheeled overhead. It was not to be. If there had been the whine of a cat it did not reappear. He was exhausted by his flight, but above all frightened that he would not make it, that despite all the journeys and adventures and hurdles he had overcome, this was the one that would extinguish him.
He had always thought he would die an eccentric, almost glamorous death, high in the Himalayas beyond the last twist of the valleys, high above the tree lines where the Sadhus camped by the side of the churning streams which further down turned into the mighty Ganges, not here under this lowering sky, in this threatening landscape. It had been a difficult road, of that there was no doubt. He was swamped with unease. He was very thin, his clothes hanging off him like rags. Clearly he had not bathed for a very long time. There was nothing to sustain him in the dumps on either side; in the mounds of old building material, discarded washing machines, shapeless piles. If only there were cats and their kittens meowing in the garbage tip, it would make everything seem so much more normal.
He thought, at one point, as he trudged down the road, that he could spot a city on the horizon, and in cities lay hopes, and threats. If there was food here, he could stay until he ascertained how safe it was. But his fever was running high now. A gentle, poisonous rain had begun to fall, drenching his ragged, filthy clothes, drenching him to the skin. He looked up and wondered: oh Lord, why hast thou forsaken me? I did my best. I tried hard. I worked hard. I was a seeker after truth. But the poisonous yellow rain kept on falling, turning the road beneath his feet into slippery puddles, making each step forward even more agonising.
He could feel the diseases riddling his body. He could feel his spirit about to accept defeat. He remained surprised that no one would save him, not this time. That there appeared to be no lesson to be learnt; that this was it. Far off he could see a spire that looked like a ruined church. A flock of the black birds seemed to be rising from it, far off, swirling into the sky. Perhaps the ruins would provide some shelter, at least they gave him a point to venture towards. A wind sprung up, freezing the yellow rain against his skin, eating into his bones, making him shiver even more in the depths of his predicament.
This time there was no salvation. Several times he thought he was going to lose consciousness, as he kept putting one foot in front of the other, marvelling at the poor state of his shoes and the filthy, mud coated state of his trousers. An old, what he used to think of as corny phrase came to mind: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." But what was the lesson in this? Where was the strength to be gained from this terrible circumstance? He would be lucky not to die from pneumonia. He was beyond Life Lessons. Puddles of water now coated the road. He stopped, shivering, thinking he was going to pass out. The ruins were only a fraction closer than they had been a hundred steps before. His body was wracked with chills. He wanted someone to help him, anyone. Was this why people came to believe in God? A total sense of abandonment.
THE BIGGER STORY:

Study says oceans will barely rise
September 5, 2008 - 8:39PM
Sit down, because this is a shocker: Despite years of scientiflc speculation - used to demand that nations and industry redistribute their wealth - the oceans won't rise by 20-plus feet this century. Water won't rise by even six feet, says a new scientific study in the journal Science. It seems the greedy American pig in his gargantuan SUV simply can't get it done.
And who's telling us that New York, Florida, and small islands aren't going to drown? Is it the right wing of the GOP? Is it Big Oil? Neither. The answer is most shocking of all:
Scientists in Boulder, where manmade global warming has become a religion. More specifically, scientists at the University of Colorado - a research institute gushing with excitement over the globalwarming-caused-by-capitalist-pigs theory.
The Colorado Daily previewed the Science article, due for publication Friday, and reported that "global sea rise exceeding 6 feet looks to be a physical impossibility."
Not unlikely; a physical impossibility! The study was conducted by Tad Pfeffer, a fellow at CU's Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research. Pfeffer and his colleagues studied conservative, medium and extreme assumptions about sea rise that's expected to result from the melting of Greenland, Antarctica and the rest of the world's glaciers and ice caps. They concluded that in the worst case scenario, in which nearly everything frozen melts, sea levels would rise by three to six feet by the year 2100. That's only if manmade global warming theory is 100 percent true and all innovation and human behavior fails to reduce greenhouse gases.
Still, the study concludes, the smaller sea rise could be harmful to low-lying coastal areas. And certainly that could be the case - if and when most ice melts.
Is it a looming crisis? Hardly. If global warming theory pans out, we have the century to adjust to the equivalent of an unusually high tide. We have time to stop constructing homes and businesses at the water's edge. We have time to move a few hundred yards inland - if the oceans start rising.
Pfeffer said publication of the study, which was expected Friday, might put global warming and sea rise in new context.
"There are a lot of people in the scientiflc community that think we are going to have these enormous sea level rises," Pfeffer said. "This is a bit of a reality check."
Pfeffer should have no expectation that elements of the activist scientific community will back off the alarmism, despite the reality check. Alarmist scientists have staked careers on gloom-and-doom theories that warn of societies drowning this century. Rather than respond appropriately to Pfeffer's study, professional alarmists may try to smear him. If so, they may be aided by much of the mainstream media. American capitalist pigs must be stopped, after all. They can best be stopped if they're vilified for a looming disaster in which innocent men, women and children in foreign lands get drowned in a rising sea caused by the SUV.
But have no fear. Global warming alarmism will unravel faster than popsicles melt on a Phoenix sidewalk in July.
Global Warming or Global Governance?

If you were to ask ten people on the street if mankind’s activities are causing global warming, my guess is that a majority would say yes. In fact, a Gallup poll conducted July 23-26, 2007 found that 63% believed that global warming is caused mostly by human activities. But is this perception of global warming based on fact or just misguided opinion?
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) were established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). These organizations shared the 2007 Noble Peace Prize with former Vice President of the United States Al Gore. These two U.N. organizations form a scientific body given the task of evaluating the risk of climate change caused by human activity. In 2005 the IPCC released a report saying that since the mid-twentieth century, the surface temperature of the earth has been rising steadily.
Mr. Gore and his colleagues at the IPCC maintain that there is an increase in global average temperatures, due to man-made intervention resulting in a “greenhouse effect.” They also say that natural phenomena, such as solar variation, combined with volcanoes, had little effect on global warming from pre-industrial times until 1950, and a small cooling effect from 1950 onward.
These conclusions have been endorsed by at least thirty scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. However, there are many scientists, some who have served on the IPCC panel, who have voiced disagreement with many of the findings of the IPCC. One noted biologist and ecologist Dr. Michael Coffman, Executive Director of Environmental Perspectives, Inc. and CEO of Sovereignty International, said in his presentation, Global Warming or Global Governance, “The global warming climate change issue is so important that people on both sides of the issue, including policymakers should be fully informed before policy is actually formulated. Tragically, that’s not happening in the global warming issue.” Coffman further says that what is being proposed by Al Gore and his colleagues is that man is primarily causing a global warming effect, but there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary put forth by prominent scientists from around the world.
What Does the Scientific Evidence Show?
There is evidence that many parts of the globe have experienced record cold temperatures dating back over one hundred years. According to Professor Tim Patterson, of the Dept. of Earth Sciences at Carlton University, “Many things we thought we knew about the climate system just a few years ago are now proving to be uncertain or quite mistaken.” Also, Dr. Robert Balling, Former Director of the Office of Climatology at Arizona State University, “It’s become quite news worthy to go out and tell people that we are about to have an apocalyptic climate change. And the moment you make that announcement, it’s easy to go around the world and find things to support that viewpoint.” Dr. Vincent Gray, chemist and one of the original chief IPCC researchers, says “The IPCC is a political organization setup by the UN to provide evidence to support the framework convention on climate change; it’s entirely political. They made up what they were going to do beforehand and choose whatever science they (IPCC) could find to support their theory.”
According to Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Neb) on the Foreign Relations Committee, “This cuts at the heart of national sovereignty of the U.S. We would be saying that we would allow an international body to come in and dictate to our industries, our businesses, our people, what they can do and what they can’t do; the use of what energy, the sources of energy, the cost of energy, etc.”
These concerns about the policymaking of such international organizations like the IPCC have led many to question whether this is an issue of global warming or global governance.
The major premise of “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore is that carbon dioxide is the major greenhouse gas that drives the temperature of the earth.” According to scientific data studied by scientists such as Dr. Ian Clark, “Carbon dioxide gas (CO2) lags behind temperature changes in history by 800 years; CO2 doesn’t cause temperature change.” And according to Professor Tim Ball, Dept. of Climatology at the University of Winnipeg, “Based on the evidence of ice core studies at the polar ice caps, it shows that CO2 follows temperature, not the opposite. So the fundamental assumption of the whole theory of climate change by human intervention of CO2 emissions causing temperature changes is wrong.”
Dr. John Christy, Atmospheric Physicist at the University of Alabama and leading author of IPCC report now says “human intervention accounts for a small fraction of CO2 of the atmospheric gases in the atmosphere; that water vapor accounts for about 97% of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. CO2 accounts for 1.9%. Therefore, man is responsible for less than 3% of all greenhouse effect in the atmosphere globally.”
The MBH report, named after the authors, Mann, Bradley, Hughes, was wrong and incomplete according to another report that was subsequently released revealing flaws in Geophysical Research Letters by Professors McIntyre and McKitrick in 2006.
Also highlighted in Al Gore’s “an Inconvenient Truth” presentation is a temperature study report using the MBH Report of 1998, showing significant temperatures rising in the last century like never before in history. What Mr. Gore’s presentation does not show is that the MBH report, named after the authors, Mann, Bradley, Hughes, was wrong and incomplete according to another report that was subsequently released revealing flaws in Geophysical Research Letters by Professors McIntyre and McKitrick in 2006.
In August, Khabibullo Abdusamatov, a scientist who heads the space research sector for the Russian Academy of Sciences, predicted long-term global cooling may be on the horizon due to a projected decrease in the sun’s output. There have also been recent findings in peer-reviewed literature over the last few years showing that the Antarctic is getting colder and the ice is growing, and a 2006 study in Geophysical Research Letters found that the sun was responsible for up to 50% of 20th Century warming. According to data released on July 14, 2006 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the January through June Alaska statewide average temperature was “0.55F (0.30C) cooler than the 1971-2000 average.”
A Need for Clear Thinking
“My concern is that we may be moving away from an irrational lack of concern about climate change to an equally irrational panic about it,” said Daniel Botkin, president of the Center for the Study of the Environment and professor emeritus in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology at U.C. Santa Barbara. He is the author of Discordant Harmonies: ANew Ecology for the Twenty-First Century. “Many of my colleagues ask, ‘What's the problem? Hasn't it been a good thing to raise public concern?’”
According to Botkin, “The problem is that in this panic, we are going to spend our money unwisely, we will take actions that are counterproductive, and we will fail to do many of those things that will benefit the environment and ourselves. For example, right now the clearest threat to many species is habitat destruction. Take the orangutans, for instance, one of those charismatic species that people are often fascinated by and concerned about. They are endangered because of deforestation. In our fear of global warming, it would be sad if we fail to find funds to purchase those forests before they are destroyed, and thus let this species go extinct. At the heart of the matter is how much faith we decide to put in science, even how much faith scientists put in science. Our times have benefited from clear-thinking, science-based rationality. I hope this prevails as we try to deal with our changing climate.”
Global Warming Hysteria and the Role of Al Gore
So what is behind the hysteria to promote global warming as a reality?
Matthew Vadum, Senior Editor and former CRC research fellow, veteran journalist and editor of “Organization Trends and Foundation Watch” spent seven years at the Washington bureau of “The Bond Buyer,” a daily Wall Street financial newspaper.
In a commentary on April 1, 2008, Mr. Vadum said, “Co-founder of IPCC Al Gore is trying to be a climate change profiteer. Essentially, he wants to make a fortune by creating a new market for a product that he is attempting to create by legislative fiat. If he succeeds and carbon emissions trading comes to the United States, Al Gore will be uniquely positioned to cash in. He's made sure of that.”
According to Vadum, “Gore himself is chairman and founder of a private equity firm called Generation Investment Management (GIM). He says the London-based firm invests money from institutions and wealthy investors in companies that are becoming environmentally friendly, to use green parlance. GIM appears to have considerable influence over major carbon credit trading firms: the U.S.-based Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and the U.K.-based Carbon Neutral Company (CNC). CCX appears to be the only firm in the U.S. that claims to trade carbon credits. As a politician, Gore speaks warmly of transparency. But as GIM chairman, Gore has not been forthcoming. Little is known about his shadowy firm’s finances, where it gets funding and what projects it supports.”
As reported in the August 2007 issue of Foundation Watch ("Al Gore’s Carbon Crusade: The Money and Connections Behind It," by Deborah Corey Barnes), with help from friends at Goldman Sachs, including U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and the investment bank’s former CEO Hank Paulson, Gore has created a web of organizations to promote the so-called climate crisis. Meanwhile, Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection is pushing for tougher environmental regulations on the private sector. It wants “cap-and-trade” legislation enacted so that companies will be forced to lower their greenhouse gas emissions and buy carbon credits. Untold billions of dollars could be generated in a brand new U.S. carbon market. When Gore's potential for immense profits is factored in, the $300 million outlay for ads (some of which is likely to come from donations to the Alliance's "We Campaign") seems like a drop in the bucket. If Gore can keep up the pressure for carbon emissions restrictions, he could end up a very wealthy man.”
Why does Al Gore use this Madison Ave. means to instill fear to ratify the Kyoto Protocol of the IPCC to impose international solutions to stop global warming?
Don Young of Alaska, Former Chairman of the House Resource Committee, says that the environment is being used as a power struggle, to cause the U.S. to submit to a one world government. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Md) US House of Representative says he’s troubled that there is a tendency now to submerge the sovereignty of the U.S. to the will of the United Nations Organizations.
Bill Clinton appointed a long time friend and colleague Nelson Strobridge “Strobe” Talbott, as a personal advisor on foreign policy, particularly in connection with Russian policy. Talbott also served at the Yale Center for Studies in Globalization. Talbott also wrote an article in Time magazine in July 20, 1992 called “The Birth of the Global Nation.” In this article Talbott predicted US relinquishing its authority to a single global authority. For that he received an award from the World Federalist Association, a group committed to world government, as well as a congratulatory letter from Bill Clinton.
As Phyllis Schlafly, President of Eagle Forum, a conservative activist group in US since 1967, said concerning Strobe Talbott, that he knew that Americans would never vote for a world government, so instead Talbott and others like him, talk about global governance, a global village, a global economy. They talk about reforming the UN and expanding NATO. Their answer always lies in more international agencies such as the IPCC wielding more control and power over U.S. citizens. And all of these international agencies are gaining their controls and powers from the UN, an international agency with its own agenda and not always in the best interests of the U.S.
Schlafly further contends that “The consensus in Kyoto as outlined in the IPCC report will bind America to reduce energy consumption by 25%, which will have a devastating effect on the American standard of living and the U.S. economy. It will continue to drive more industries out of America for a more global economy.”
The record shows that presently $4 Billion per year is being spent on global warming research. Much of the funding for these research projects have been put together by “Public-Private-Partnerships” composed of multi-national corporations and NGO’s promoting the one world government concept. Since none of these entities are elected, there is little to no accountability to the electorate of the U.S. These partnerships then are free to impose their will on people with no punitive measures. Partnerships like this, which Al Gore is part of, have given them the platform to introduce such entities as the IPCC and the Kyoto Protocol on environmental studies as a stepping stone to control the national and local economy of the U.S., such as the carbon tax put before congress at this time.
Is Global Warming Being Used to Impose Global Governance?
This is the essence of Global Governance and strategies for a New World Order. Perhaps this is what people like Robert Zoellick, President of the World Bank had in mind when he introduced the new business organization “Association of American Free Trade Agreements” before President Bush in 2006. The AAFTA is a separate “non-government” entity to develop a common market and common deregulations for the benefit of the multi-national corporations involved; all sanctioned by top government officials and all supporting and promoting the IPCC Kyoto Protocol for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially nations like India and China. This has resulted in many of the business entities realizing profits as high as 45% while wages for average Americans have dropped significantly.
This information is in the public domain and begs the question; is Global Warming an established fact as some globalists promote or does the evidence indicate that globalists are using tools like the IPCC and global warming to impose global governance in the U.S.? Let the reader decide.

Global Warming gets the Cold Freeze
Global warming hoax exposed by record global cold
by F. William Engdahl
The media and governmental hype over a danger from global warming that already is allegedly causing the polar icecaps to melt and threaten a global climate catastrophe, looks more and more like the political hype it is. This year to date, snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.
According to the US National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) many American cities and towns have suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was - 0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 average."
China is surviving its most brutal winter in one hundred years. Temperatures in the normally mild south were low for so long that some middle-sized cities went weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them.
There have been so many snow and ice storms in Ontario and Quebec in the past two months that the real estate market has been hurt as home buyers have stayed home. In just the first two weeks of February, Toronto received 70 cm of snow, breaking the record of 66.6 cm for the entire month set back in 1950.
Arctic Ice Melt has Reversed
One of the most dramatic results of the record cold over much of the planet is the reversal of the much-reported melt of the icebergs in the Arctic Ocean. Last autumn the world was alarmed to hear from certain climatologists that the ice in the Arctic had melted to its "lowest levels on record.” What was carefully omitted from those scare stories was the fact that those records only date back as far as 1972, and that there is anthropological and geological evidence of much greater melts in the past.
Now, as a result of the recent record cold weather, the ice is back. According to Gilles Langis, a senior forecaster with the Canadian Ice Service in Ottawa, the Arctic winter has been so severe the ice has not only recovered, it is actually 10 to 20 cm thicker in many places than at this time last year.
What few people know and what the Global Warming lobby seems at pains to keep known is the fact that there is considerable seasonal variation in how much pack ice of the Arctic ice pack covers the Arctic Ocean. Much of the ocean is also covered in snow for about 10 months of the year. The maximum snow cover is in March or April — about 20 to 50 centimeters over the frozen ocean. The thickness is not one of the universal constants, never was.
Admit flawed Climate Model
There is also admission by several intellectually honest climatologists that their predictive models are flawed. Robert Toggweiler of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at Princeton University and Joellen Russell, assistant professor of biogeochemical dynamics at the University of Arizona, two very prominent climate modellers, recently admitted that the computer models that show polar ice-melt cooling the oceans, stopping the circulation of warm equatorial water to northern latitudes and triggering another Ice Age (as in the fictional movie The Day After Tomorrow) are wrong. In a recent interview Russell said, “It's not ice melt, but rather wind circulation that drives ocean currents northward from the tropics. Climate models until now have not properly accounted for the wind's effects on ocean circulation, so researchers have compensated by over-emphasizing the role of man-made warming on polar ice melt.” Now that’s very interesting.
When professors Toggweiler and Russell reprogrammed their model to include the 40-year cycle of winds away from the equator, then back towards it again, the role of ocean currents bringing warm southern waters to the north was obvious in the recent Arctic warming.
Russian climatologists believe recent weather changes around the globe are results of solar activity and not man-made emissions. Oleg Sorokhtin, a fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, calls the argument for man-made climate change "a drop in the bucket." His research shows that now the recent very active solar activity has entered an inactive phase. He advised people to "stock up on fur coats."
Kenneth Tapping of Canada’s National Research Council, who oversees a giant radio telescope focused on the sun, is convinced we are in for a long period of severely cold weather if sunspot activity does not pick up soon. The last time the sun was this inactive, Earth suffered the Little Ice Age that lasted about five centuries and ended in 1850. Crops failed through killer frosts and drought. Famine, plague and war were widespread. Harbours froze, so did rivers, and trade ceased.
The Global Warming Geopolitics
The recent Global Warming hysteria is in reality a geopolitical push by leading global elite circles to find a way to get the broader populations to willingly accept drastic cuts in their living standards, something that were it demanded without clear reason by politicians, would spark strikes and protest. The UN’s latest IPCC report on Global Warming calls for diverting a huge 12% of global GDP to “prevent the harmful effects of climate change.” The UN report, for example, estimated that its recommendations to reduce certain manmade emissions would cost about $2,750 per family per year in the price of energy.
Today there are two principal policy options of the Anglo-American power establishment to impose their further control over a world that is rapidly slipping out from under them. We might call them Plan A and Plan B for short.
The first, Plan A, was the option represented by Bush-Cheney and the big oil and military industrial complex behind them. Cheney and his close Houston friend, Matt Simmons, propagated the myth of Peak Oil to lull populations into accepting the inevitability of $100 a barrel or even higher oil prices. In the meantime, the relative strength of the Big Oil and the related US military establishment grew with higher oil prices.
Their global War on Terror provided a cover or pretext to justify military control over the major oil reserves and oil transit passages of the world. From Iraq to Afghanistan to Kosovo, the US and NATO agenda was aimed at future control of the extraordinary economic powers emerging from Russia to China to India to Brazil and Venezuela and beyond. Through China’s effective diplomacy in Africa, many African countries are on the brink of slipping out from under the US or British control into Chinese or more independent status.
If John McCain becomes the next choice of the US power elites to be President, that will signal that that military and oil agenda will escalate, especially as the USA sinks into a severe economic depression in coming months.
The second broad faction of maintaining their control over the greater part of the world economy, Plan B, sees Global Warming and “soft power” as embodied in the organs of the United Nations and IMF and World Bank as the more suitable vehicle to convince people to willingly accept drastic reduction in living standards.
Barack Obama, the apparent choice of the same elites as a “breath of change” to allow them to regroup after the debacle of the Bush-Cheney years, would likely opt for the second faction of the global elite—the Global Warming option to lowering general living standards, ‘Plan B’ of the Anglo-American establishment. In a recent campaign speech in Wallingford Pennsylvania, Mr. Obama replied to a question about Al Gore, the hero of Global Warming. As President, Obama said he would consider putting Al Gore in a Cabinet-level position—or higher. He stated, “I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues but climate change is real."
The two major global factions
Today there are two major factions within the Western political power establishment internationally. They cooperate and share broad elitist goals, but differ fundamentally on how to reach these goals. Foremost is their goal of sharply controlling global economic growth and population growth. The first faction is best described as the Rockefeller Faction. It has a global power base and is today best represented by the Bush family faction which got their start, as I document in my book, as hired hands for the powerful Rockefeller machine. The Rockefeller faction has for more than a century based its power and influence on control of oil and on use of the military to secure that control. It is personified in the man who is since 2001 de facto President in terms of decision-making—Dick Cheney. Cheney was former CEO of Halliburton Corp., which is both the world’s largest oilfield services company (now based in Dubai for tax reasons), and the world’s largest military base constructor.
The second faction might be called the Soft Power Faction. Their philosophy might be summed up that they think its “possible to kill more flies with honey than with vinegar.” Their preferred path to global population control and lowering of the growth rates in China and elsewhere is through promoting the fraud of global warming and imminent climate catastrophe. Al Gore is linked to this faction. So is British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. They see globalist institutions, especially the United Nations, as the best vehicle to advance their agenda of global austerity.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was created by the United Nations Environment Programme. Its reports have been demonstrated to be fundamentally flawed in scientific methodology, yet they are aggressively being promoted as revealed truth by the powerful media behind this faction. Others in the circle include billionaire speculator George Soros, parts of the British Royal family and representatives of European “old money.”
With the meteorological evidence of their claims for global warming dissolving as the ice forms anew, it is not surprising that news of the Arctic refreeze and other contrary evidence to their doomsday thesis are kept from mainline international media.
